Part 2 · Lesson 4 of 14

Which Parts of Your Coaching Website Should You Improve First?

You'll leave this lesson with one evidence-based decision about an existing page on your coaching website. You'll know what you noticed, what you want to do and what still needs checking before anyone changes the site.

In Lesson 3, Morgan Reyes drafted a clearer homepage introduction for Juniper Bridge Business Coaching. The draft explains who Morgan works with and what Better-Fit Work Planning offers. But the new wording has not been published.

Morgan is now looking at the rest of the site and wondering: Should I change the homepage, make another coaching page or publish more articles?

That question is common. When a website feels weak, creating something new can seem easier than investigating what's already there. But a new page won't necessarily help a suitable visitor who is confused by the existing coaching offer.

Before choosing more pages, look at the ones you already have.

Go to your page review

Follow the visitor, not just the website menu

Think about an owner of a small maintenance business who wants one-to-one help deciding which jobs fit their team.

If they arrive at Juniper Bridge, they need to understand three things: Is this coaching for a business like mine? What does the one-to-one offer involve? How do I request an introductory conversation?

Morgan's earlier work gives us a starting point. We know the intended clients, priority offer and actual online format. We also have the small, fictional website inventory below.

We don't have real search traffic, booking-system records or customer feedback for Juniper Bridge. We must not turn those unknowns into conclusions about rankings, AI mentions or lost leads.

Ask Morgan or the website manager what actually happens after a request.

Notice that the pages have different problems. The coaching page has a clear content gap. The About page contains a claim that needs evidence. The Insights article may already be useful. And the Contact page needs information about the real workflow before the right wording can be written.

Treating every page as a request for new content would miss those differences.

Choose an action that fits the evidence

For each page, start with one of these decisions:

Keep for now. The page appears to have a useful purpose, and you don't yet have a reason to replace it. Keeping it isn't a promise that it is perfect.

Improve the existing page. You can identify a specific issue that can reasonably be addressed without creating another URL. You still need accurate, owner-approved wording before making a public change.

Investigate before deciding. Something is unclear, but the right action depends on a missing fact. For example, ask what actually happens after someone requests an introductory call.

Consider combining or retiring pages after review. This is for situations where two existing pages do substantially the same job or a page is no longer useful. It is not a casual instruction to delete a URL. Review existing links and traffic where available, map any replacement destination and involve the website manager in an appropriate redirect plan before a URL changes.

You may eventually decide a genuinely different service needs a new page. But we have not established that need for Morgan's site. Here, the first job is making the existing coaching information clearer.

What deserves attention first?

Morgan's goal is suitable inquiries for one-to-one Better-Fit Work Planning. That makes /coaching/ an important candidate: someone already looking for private coaching should be able to tell it apart from Monthly Planning Sessions, the separate group program.

At the same time, the unsupported “proven results” wording on /about/ deserves prompt verification or correction. It should not be left public merely because another page is more closely related to the main growth goal.

The homepage improvement from Lesson 3 is still a proposal, not a published change. The Contact page needs a question answered before we promise a specific next step. And the existing Insights article doesn't need a replacement just because the website needs work elsewhere.

Priority is a judgment, not a universal page order. A misleading claim might need attention immediately, while a planned copy improvement can wait for the owner's review. Record the evidence and the responsible person rather than assigning a magic SEO score.

One useful improvement to a real page can be more valuable than creating a page nobody needed.

Try it: What should Morgan do with each page?

Pick the best first decision using only the facts shown. There is no ranking score. Some other choices could become reasonable after more information is available.

Choose a first decision for each page

Choose a first decision if you want to try this question. You can also keep reading.

Sensible response: Improve existing page.

Feedback: The issue is already visible in the text. Keep the existing /coaching/ URL for now and prepare a clearer description of the one-to-one Better-Fit Work Planning offer, with the group format distinguished. Morgan must approve the final wording. Lesson 5 will show how to apply and verify an approved improvement.

Sensible response: Improve existing page.

Feedback: Don't invent proof. Ask Morgan to verify the claim or replace it with accurate information that can be supported. Investigating first is a defensible part of that process, but the public claim should not be treated as verified just because it sounds persuasive.

Sensible response: Investigate before deciding.

Feedback: Confirm what the request sends, what the visitor sees and who handles it. Only then can Morgan describe the next step accurately. Don't invent an automated calendar, response time or session duration.

Choose a first decision if you want to try this question. You can also keep reading.

Sensible response: Keep for now.

Feedback: Keep the article available while reviewing whether it genuinely answers the relevant question and how it relates to the coaching offer. A separate article isn't justified by a title alone. A closer review could lead to a later improvement.

Choose a first decision if you want to try this question. You can also keep reading.

Sensible response: Consider combining or retiring after review.

Feedback: The two URLs may not both be needed. First review their content, links, purpose and any available usage information. If the owner approves consolidation, the website manager should map the old URL to a genuinely relevant replacement and test the change. Don't delete a page or redirect it to an unrelated homepage by default.

No new page is the automatic answer to any of these questions.

Now review one page from your own website

You don't need a full website audit to start. Choose a page that matters to a suitable coaching client and look for something you can actually observe. If you cannot open the page, record that limitation instead of guessing what is on it.

Your workbook is optional. It adds one page-review entry to the existing Website and inquiry experience section. It does not repeat your business goal or the client questions from earlier lessons.

OPTIONAL · YOUR OWN WEBSITE

Your page review

You can leave anything blank, including the decision. It is fine to write “Not sure yet” in a text field. Nothing you enter changes a real website or is automatically sent to Blue Kite SEO.

That's enough for a useful first record. Morgan has not published anything, deleted a page or committed to a new URL.

What happens to the decision?

Your review is an action proposal, not the change itself. In the next lesson we'll take Morgan's existing /coaching/ page, separate the two offers in approved wording, preview the edit, then explain how to publish it through the appropriate website process or hand it to the person managing the site. We'll also check whether the live result matches what was approved.

The /about/ evidence question and the unknown contact process stay visible as separate findings. They don't disappear just because we're focusing on the offer page next.
